Judd Wire Receives Qualification to Filter Line Wire Specification AS85485.

Turners Falls, MA January 11, 2008 – Judd Wire, a manufacturer of military and commercial electronic wire and cable for the Aerospace industry, announced the qualification (QPL) to military specification AS85485, “Filter Line Wire”.

Approval of the products was obtained under the review of the Department of the Navy, Naval Air Systems Command, Patuxent River, Maryland.Judd Wire was added to the list of qualified manufacturers on specifications AS85485, specification sub groups /9 (AWG 10 through 22), /10 (AWG 24), /11 (AWG 14 through 24) and /12 (AWG 10 through 24).

These styles represent the selection of primary wires with a filter layer as well as jacketed multi conductor cables, with and without additional metal braid shielding layers.

Filter Line Wires are used to provide a high degree of protection from Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) within the wiring systems of today’s sophisticated and complicated Aerospace platforms.

The filter technique is accomplished by creating an absorptive layer of insulation applied over the conductor material and within two other layers of insulation used for improved mechanical and electrical performance.This technique allows aircraft electrical system designers to utilize reduced weight and diameter designs while achieving the required electrical filtering performance characteristics. Please contact Judd Wire (sales@juddwire.com) for additional information.
